The Main street, called “The main” for short, is the core pedestrian zone in the centre of Plovdiv. On it you can find theaters, galleries, shops, cafes and some of the city’s monuments. The Main starts from “Central square” to hotel Novotel Plovdiv, with a total length of 1.8 km, which makes it the longest pedestrian street in Europe. In the past the street was called “Uzun charshiya”, which in translation means “the long street”. During the ХVІІ century an Ottoman traveller, Evliya Chelebi, describes it as the street with big stones, surrounded by 880 work-shops.

The Main street is 50 meters away from the house.
